The United Nations continues to classify China as a “developing” country, giving them a free pass on environmental agreements. Why? Because it gives China an unfair advantage in treaties like the Montreal Protocol and the UN Climate Change framework. This isn’t just about global diplomacy—it’s about American interests being sacrificed for China’s benefit.

Ben Lieberman, senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, breaks down how this loophole is costing the American taxpayer. He’s been fighting for years to get China reclassified as a developed nation. But after a recent UN meeting in Thailand, it’s clear that merely asking for change won’t cut it.

The US must go further—cut off funding to the UN until they reclassify China. House and Senate bills are already in motion to make this happen, but the real question is: Will the US have the guts to take action?
