Why Did Trump Win Over So Many Black Voters This Time?
This election, Trump pulled off what no one expected—he won over more Black voters than any Republican in recent history. The numbers speak for themselves. In Wisconsin, his support doubled. In 2020, he got just 8 percent of the Black vote there, but this time? A whopping 21 percent. Nationally, Kamala Harris couldn’t hold onto the Black support Biden enjoyed, especially among Black men, where her numbers took a notable hit.
So, what’s behind the shift? Bob Woodson, civil rights leader and author of A Pathway to American Renewal, joined me to break down what he thinks happened. Woodson’s spent decades working in urban communities and has insight you won’t find in the mainstream narrative. He sees a shift—Black Americans looking for solutions beyond promises and policies that haven’t delivered. Trump’s message of economic empowerment and strong families struck a chord, and more and more Black voters took notice.
