The “Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report” in first week of October 2024 has for your northwest regional and national radio listeners and webpage followers a follow-up report on four U.S. Attorney’s Office identified Venezuelan nationals who have been charged with strong armed robbery and various crimes in a U.S. District Court in the state of Colorado.
Some background information, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado (USAODC), issued a news release titled “Four People Indicted On Charges Related To Robbery Of Denver Jewelry Store ” who the subjects of interest were identified as 23-year-old Oswaldo Lozada-Solis (Case Number: 24-CR-00247-NYW), 20-year-old Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro (Case Number: 24-CR-00247-NYW), 21-year-old Jean Franco Torres-Roman (Case Number: 24-CR-00247-NYW), and 18-year-old Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero (Case Number: 24-CR-00247-NYW); (Note: These cases against the four Venezuelan nationals are being prosecuted in U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado).
Here is an extended excerpt from USAODC’s August 21, 2024 news release on Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero:
“DENVER – The United States Attorney for the District of Colorado announces that Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, 23, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, 20, Jean Franco Torres-Roman, 21, and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero, 18, all Venezuelan nationals, were indicted by a federal grand jury this week on charges related to the armed robbery of a Denver-area jewelry store.
According to the indictment, on the afternoon of June 24, the suspects entered the Joyeria El Ruby Jewelry Store on West 38th Avenue in Denver. During the robbery, suspects pointed weapons at employees, struck several employees with their weapons, and took a large amount of gold and jewelry. The suspects were later located in the El Paso, Texas area.
Lozada-Solis, Del Toro, and Torres-Roman are charged with armed robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Colina-Romero is charged with transporting stolen goods and possession of stolen goods.
The defendants made their initial appearances in Denver on August 20 and 21 in front of Magistrate Judge James P. O’Hara.
The charges contained in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent of the charges unless and until proven guilty.
The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations Denver, the Denver Police Department, the FBI Denver Field Division, FBI El Paso Field Division, Homeland Security Investigations El Paso, Department, and West Texas Anti-Gang Center. Two days later, on August 23, 2023 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) issued a news release titled “HSI Denver Investigation Leads to Indictments of 4 People Related to Robbery of Jewelry Store” that did not identify Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero’s nationality.
Seeking detailed information on the historical immigration status of Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero the “Criminal Alien of the Week Report” contacted on August 28th, September 6th and September 17, 2024 via e-mail U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Public Affairs at a national (Washington, D.C.) regional level (Denver, CO) requesting investigations and statements on these individuals to answer the following questions:

On Friday, September 27, 2024 ICE Public Affairs out of Denver, Colorado responded to the “Criminal Alien of the Week Report” request for statements on the historical immigration status of Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero.
“ON BACKGROUND:
Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) is focused on smart, effective immigration enforcement that protects the homeland through the arrest and removal of those who undermine the safety of our communities and the integrity of our immigration laws.
STATEMENT ATRRIBUTATBLE TO AN ICE SPOKESPERSON:
Jean Franco Torres-Roman, 21, is a citizen of Venezuela who was encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol at or near El Paso, Texas, Sept. 18, 2023. Torres was issued a notice to appear and is pending removal proceedings. Torres posted bond and was released from custody before ERO Denver could lodge an immigration detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service requesting notification before his release. Torres remains at large.
Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero, 18, is a citizen of Venezuela who was encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol at or near Eagle Pass, Texas, Dec. 18, 2023. Colina was issued a notice to appear and is pending removal proceedings. ERO Denver has lodged an immigration detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service requesting notification before Colina’s release from custody.
Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, 20, is a citizen of Venezuela who was encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol at or near El Paso, Texas, Sept. 17, 2023. Lara was issued a notice to appear and is pending removal proceedings. ERO Denver has lodged an immigration detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service requesting notification before Lara’s release from custody.
Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, 23, is a citizen of Venezuela who was encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol at or near El Paso, Texas, Oct. 1, 2023. Lozada was issued a notice to appear and is pending removal proceedings. ERO Denver has lodged an immigration detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service requesting notification before Lozada’s release from custody.” – ICE Public Affairs Spokesperson.
Pre-trial, on September 30, 2024 Oswaldo Lozada-Solis (BOP Register Number: 27515-511), age 23, was incarcerated by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at Englewood FCI located in Littleton, Colorado.
Jean Franco Torres-Roman, age 21, on September 30, 2024 was in the custody of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) incarcerated at the Teller County Detentions Facility (TCDF) located in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero, age 18, on September 30, 2024 was in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) incarcerated at the Jefferson County Detentions Facility (JCDF) located in Golden, Colorado.
Information on the pre-trial location on September 30, 2024 of Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, age 20, as to if he is currently in custody and incarcerated at a location in the state of Colorado was unavailable.
