Americans have until 11:59pm on April 18th to get their tax filings in. Instead of talking about paying your taxes, let’s talk about those who don’t pay any taxes at all.
The IRS estimates that more than 46% of all working Americans won’t pay a dime in federal taxes. That’s more than 77 million folks who draw paychecks, who don’t contribute to the more than three trillion dollars that pays the bills for national government. Worse than that, a lot of those folks actually get the earned income tax credit – meaning they get a refund that’s thousands of dollars bigger than whatever was withheld from their paychecks during the year.
So when you wonder why a Presidential candidate like Hillary or Bernie promising free stuff for all is so popular, it’s because almost half the people who work, don’t pay. Think about that as you affix your name to your tax filing.
