About Lars

Lars got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records (remember 45s?) and reading news, sports and weather (twice an hour) on KTIL (The Mighty 1590) from a little cinderblock building on the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon (75 miles West of Portland, Oregon).

36 years later, he's only moved 75 miles east to Portland and light years to "the Right". Emmy and Peabody award winner Lars Larson brings nearly four decades of experience as a radio and television journalist to the microphone for six hours of the best talk radio in America. Six hours of daily prep keep The Lars Larson Show on top of the news and top-of-mind for listeners across the country.

Along the way, Lars has worked for more than a dozen radio stations and five television stations. Today, Lars holds down the fort from 12pm - 4pm on Radio Northwest flagship NewsRadio 750 KXL. His local talk show airs on seventeen stations in the Pacific Northwest (and earns him the biggest local talk radio audience in the region). The national Lars Larson Show (syndicated by Compass Media Networks) launched on September 1, 2003 with 105 stations and grew nearly 50% in the first four months. After 8 years, the show continues to grow and Lars currently has multi-year contracts with both Compass Media and KXL.

Much to his wife Tina's delight, Lars has picked up more than 70 awards from the Associated Press, Society of Professional journalists, the National Press Club (as well as the Emmy's and a Peabody) for his reporting and documentaries.

He appears every week on Megyn Kelly's show on Fox New to debate a liberal talk radio host. He has also appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor", "Larry King", "Scarborough Country", "Fox and Friends" and countless local radio shows around the United States and on The BBC and shows around the world . He does three daily radio commentaries (one local to the city of Portland, Northwest Reports for his regional audience and Right on the Left Coast for his stations around America). Lars does a weekly TV commentary for Northwest News Channel 8 (the NBC affiliate in Portland).

Tina and Lars travel around the northwest a lot on their own with their two Scotty dogs Bordie and Merlo. They live on an acre and a half in Vancouver where Tina's summertime gardens produce more than the family can eat.

You can reach Lars on the radio in the NW by calling (866) HEY-LARS, on the national show calling (866) HEY-LARS or by email talk@larslarson.com. The website that serves both shows is www.larslarson.com with free streaming offered. And you can listen to the show on a new technology called Cellecast by calling 503-980-7410.
